How to:
Connect to the ORACLE Database with DataDefractor SSIS
The Problem:
DataDefractor SSIS cannot use Oracle ODBC connection due to password encryption. Visual Studio 2005 encrypts the password provided by the user in the Connection Manager User interface and DataDefractor SSIS cannot use that password to connect to the database.
The Solution:
To create an Oracle ODBC connection that can be used by DataDefractor SSIS you need to modify the ConnectionString property of that connection to include the password of the account used to connect to the database. In order to make the password available to DataDefractor SSIS follow these steps:
1. Create an ODBC connection manager to an Oracle database using the ODBC connection manager type.
2. Select the created Oracle connection manager in the Connection Managers list of the SSIS package.
3. In the Properties grid modify the ConnectionString property to include the password as in: password=< value >
. Replace < value >
with the password. Make sure the password entry is separated from other entries in the ConnectionString property with a semicolon.
4. Use the connection manager with DataDefractor SSIS source component.
