How to:
Isolate a Header or Footer Based on the Contents of a Data Section
The Problem:
The automatic header/footer detection on DataDefractor’s Data Source Layout page is based on finding the beginning of a relatively populated data area after a relatively blank area.
In some cases, however, there is no blank area between the header or footer of a spreadsheet and the data area. In cases like these, you can use single vertical page detection to isolate the header/footer based on the contents at the beginning of the data area.
The Solution:
The following solution assumes that you have launched DataDefractor wizard, have connected to the appropriate spreadsheet and have navigated to the page Data Source Layout.
To isolate a header which ends above a row, which contains a particular data pattern, follow these steps:
1. Select layout feature Vertical Sub-Pages
2. Set property PatternDirection to TopToBottom
3. Set property MatchSingleSubpage to True
4. Define the border recognition patter, which identifies the row just below the header
To isolate a footer which ends below a row, which contains a particular data pattern, follow these steps;
1. Select layout feature Vertical Sub-Pages
2. Set property PatternDirection to BottomToTop
3. Set property MatchSingleSubpage to True
4. Define the border recognition patter, which identifies the row just above the footer
